Great Barrier Reef
If there - s something you must do when staying in Cairns, it
is to visit the Great Barrier Reef. Imagine beautiful reefs,
exotic fish and marine life, clear warm water and the hot sun
combined to make a glorious experience. There are plenty of
things to do out on the reef; these include scuba diving, snorkelling,
deep sea diving, full day and half day trips, helicopter flights
over the GBR or a private charter if you prefer.
Cairns Esplanade and Lagoon
The Cairns Esplanade is peaceful and g reat spot for recreational
activities for people from all walks of life. Enjoy an early
morning jog, bbq dinner, watch the unique bird life feeding
along the mudflats or simply relax on the grass amongst the
tropical lifestyle. If you need to cool off, the Cairns Esplanade
Lagoon is patrolled by l ifesavers on a daily basis from 6:00am
to 10:00pm October to March and 7:00am to 9:00pm April to September.
Night markets are not to be missed either on the Esplanade.
Cairns Northern Beaches
Stretching for over 20km along the coastline with enclosed swimming
areas, plentiful grassy and shaded areas for BBQ's and picnics
between the palm trees, Cairns Northern Beaches are a popular
destination for all travellers. Buses depart regularly from
Cairns CBD.
Crystal Cascades
Escape to a tropical paradise; Crystal Cascades, a secluded
freshwater swimming hole surrounded by tropical rainforest and
waterfalls.
Flecker Botanical Gardens
The Flecker Botanical Gardens are simply beautiful, very well
maintained and interesting. Located only 5km from Cairns CBD.
The cafe in the middle of the Gardens serves breakfast and lunch
everyday.
Adrenalin/Adventure Attractions
If you like to take things to the next level, Cairns is an adventure
playground, not for the faint hearted!! Choose between a range
of activities; sky diving, abssailing, white water rafting,
bungy jumping, sea kayaking, rapids kayaking, mountain biking,
